Autodesk has announced plans for Inventor Fusion Technology, a digital prototyping technology that combines the control of parametric, history-based modeling and the ease of use of direct, history-free modeling. The solution will give users the ability to make rapid changes to a design through direct manipulation, yet access and use feature- and history-based design intent. The company says it plans to offer a free download of Inventor Fusion Technology Preview on Autodesk Labs later this year.

Conformia's Version 3.0 of its product/process lifecycle management (PPLM) solution features a fully integrated, inclusive real-time development operations system for a variety of process manufacturing verticals. The release allows process manufacturers to leverage a centralized master knowledge repository where they view, share and store information, automate experiment test runs and draw upon them for real-time execution, analysis and visualization. New features of the PPLM solution include recipe authoring and re-engineering; in-process sampling; recipe element and recipe action template libraries; and object modeling.

With Goldfire 5.0 software from Invention Machine, users can track enterprisewide innovation trends and programs in real time. Executives and managers can navigate through more than a dozen innovation tasks -- from designing new products to identifying new market opportunities -- and define their own innovation tasks based on the problem they are trying to solve. Content-searching capabilities have been improved with the release of Kinnosa 4.1, an engineering document management solution from First Trace. Kinnosa's service-oriented architecture and open data repository make the solution adaptable for managing engineering files produced by CAD tools from Autodesk, SolidWorks and Bentley Systems. The new release includes additional workflow services to manage and automate real-world business processes such as design, collaboration, review, release and publishing activities.

Planview has introduced a comprehensive product portfolio management solution through the combination of new product offerings and enhanced existing products. The Planview Enterprise for Product Development solution includes the new Enterprise Product Portfolio Management application, which establishes a product management system of record. The second offering is the Requirements Management Process Accelerator, which ties requirements to project execution and product development. The third component is the enhanced Enterprise Insight Analytics application, which provides suitewide interactive analytics.

Quicker configuration capabilities arrive in Teamcenter Express 4.1 from Siemens PLM Software. This collaborative product data management (cPDM) solution release includes a new administration tool to simplify the process for configuring the cPDM environment. The tool, called BMIDE (Business Modeler Integrated Development Environment) Express, streamlines the management of attributes, items, datasets, forms and other tools key to building a collaborative PDM environment. The tool is delivered with an Express Project that defines the preconfigured cPDM environment delivered by Teamcenter Express and records any changes made to the environment to meet customer needs.
