ISM Offers New Educational Courses

Sept. 12, 2008
Candidates for CPSM qualification can use courses to prepare for exams.

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is now accepting registrations for educational courses aimed at helping supply management professionals seeking to earn their Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) qualification. These courses will be offered for professionals who wish to take both the CPSM Exam and the CPSM Bridge Exam.

First is a review designed for current C.P.M. holders as part of their preparation for taking the CPSM Bridge Exam. The course is intended to enable candidates to assess the knowledge they have acquired through education and experience against the content areas covered by the CPSM Bridge Exam. It is not intended for those who are not planning to take the full exam. The first of these two-day courses will take place Oct. 16-17 in Las Vegas.

Participants can gain a better understanding of the CPSM program and of the breadth of content covered in the exam. Through case studies, questions and group discussions, CPSM candidates will have the opportunity to cement their learning and to identify areas for further study.

Participants in the CPSM Exam Review will gain an understanding of the CPSM program and of the breadth covered in each of the three CPSM Exams. The course will begin with a brief overview of exam content areas, question format and types, exam characteristics and test-taking tips. CPSM candidates will spend the majority of the time working on activities tied to the tasks weighted most heavily on the exams. The first of these three-day courses will take place Oct. 27-29 in Orlando, Fla.

The CPSM represents the highest degree of professional competencies, containing the most comprehensive body of knowledge, and is designed to lead the profession by emphasizing the main components of supply management. Professionals who obtain the CPSM will have an advanced level of broad-based skills to make better decisions regarding their organization's supply network, including how to take full advantage of opportunities around the world.
