Tenneco Inc. announced on Sept. 10 it is opening its second manufacturing facility in Russia, located in St. Petersburg. This facility will be St. Petersburg's first emissions control manufacturing plant for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Initially, the 5,000-square-meter facility will supply exhaust systems for Ford Motor Co.
"One of our key growth strategies is to be well-positioned to serve customers in growing markets like Russia, where we have steadily built a strong presence," said Gregg Sherrill, CEO, Tenneco. "Tenneco's new St. Petersburg plant enhances our capabilities to capture new business in this expanding market."
Tenneco, a manufacturer of emission control and ride control products for both the automotive OEM market and aftermarket, entered the Russian automotive market with an aftermarket operation in 1996. The in 2003, the company opened its first manufacturing facility in Togliatti, in Russia's Samara Region, to produce exhaust systems and catalytic converters for Ford Motor Company and GM-AvtoVAZ.
The St. Petersburg plant marks Tenneco's seventh manufacturing facility in the region including Central/Eastern Europe and Russia, a key growth area for the company. "As we expand in developing markets like Russia, we are leveraging Tenneco's regional knowledge and local management backed by the company's global resources and engineering capabilities," said Hari Nair, president, International, Tenneco. "We look forward to bringing our state-of-the-art emissions control technologies to our Russia-based customers."
