The fourth round -- and possibly the final round -- of trade talks this year between the U.S. and China on a broad-based textile agreement will be held in Beijing on October 12 and 13. The two nations have been trying to reach an agreement since mid-summer. The U.S. and China made progress on product coverage and quota levels during the third round, which ended September 28 without a completed pact.
The U.S. imposed limited import quotas on Chinese textiles on May 23 and May 27.
The current talks are focused on a comprehensive agreement that's consistent with the terms of the accession agreement with the U.S. that led to China's joining the World Trade Organization.
