Compiled ByDeborah Austin Transplace.com -- an Internet-based transportation logistics firm -- and Associated Warehouses Inc., a consortium of third-party distribution and fulfillment companies, have announced a strategic alliance. The agreement will provide customers with integrated warehousing, distribution, Web-enabled transportation management, supply-chain analysis and optimization, real-time information on shipments, and other logistical services. Through the alliance, the firms plan to help simplify processes and increase efficiencies in the supply chain. Transplace.com -- headquartered in Plano, Tex. -- is the result of a merger of logistics business units from six major U.S. publicly held truckload carriers. Associated Warehouses -- with headquarters in Morristown, N.J. and Orange, Calif. -- has more than 50 third-party logistics services firms with more than 90 million sq ft of ambient, chilled, and frozen space throughout North America.
