Container shipping company CP Ships Ltd. has announced that it has acquired ROE Logistics, a Montreal-based freight forwarding, customs brokerage and logistics provider. The deal, announced March 23, closed on April 2. "As a way of leveraging our strong regional positions and adding value to our core container services, we are selectively developing logistics services in markets where it makes sense," explains CP Ships CEO Ray Miles. "ROE will enable us to build on the container transport services we offer our Montreal and Vancouver gateway customers." London-based CP Ships provides international container transportation services in four regional markets: Trans-Atlantic, Australasia, Latin America and Asia. Within these markets, it operates 35 services in 22 trade lanes under seven brand names that include ANZDL, Canada Maritime and Contship Containerlines. CP Ships said Robert Elvidge, founder of ROE Logistics, will remain as CEO.
