Study Says Public-School Graduates Unprepared

Despite the heightened attention paid to academic standards, employers still don't find graduates of public schools to have the skills needed for the workplace. A study by the New York-based nonprofit education organization, Public Agenda, says that 68% of employers find recent graduates lack grammar and spelling skills, and the ability to speak clearly. Over 60% of employers say that public school graduates lack basic math skills as well. On a positive note: Employers find that recent graduates have good or excellent computer skills and are able to work well with others.
