Compiled ByJill Jusko Saying it wanted to enhance customer service by making key information "readily available," the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has created a Web page it says will help businesses better understand and comply with EEOC investigations. The new Web page is accessible at http://www.eeoc.gov/qs-employees.html. It breaks down EEOC information into various sections, defined by the following questions:

What is the EEOC?
What happens when a charge is filed against me?
How does a charge get resolved?
How else can the EEOC assist me?

"This new Web page will help employers, especially small businesses, reach a smooth resolution of charge filings in the most efficient manner," says Commission Chair Cari M. Dominguez. The Web page emphasizes voluntary mediation, the EEOC notes. "It is our sincere hope that this additional information will help persuade employers to increase their participation in the EEOC's national mediation program," says Dominguez. "Employers have much to gain and nothing to lose by agreeing to voluntary mediation to resolve discrimination charges." Employers also can access the site by going to the main EEOC site and clicking on the heading "Quick Start -- Employers" on the left side of the page.
