The Commerce Dept.'s National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has announced it will delay the implementation date for the Fastener Quality Act, originally scheduled for July 26, by 90 days. The agency is extending the date to Oct. 25, to allow more time for accreditation of laboratories that will perform the inspection and testing of fastener imports required by the act. Through last week, of the 580 labs that have applied, only 250 have been accredited.
