Computer Associates International Inc.(CA), which became one of the world's largest software companies through an aggressive program of acquisitions over the last decade, has done it again. On Aug. 5 the Islandia, N.Y.-based software giant acquired Realogic Inc., an information technology consulting firm.
This arrow will be added to CA's consulting quiver, the Global Professional Services unit, formed last April. Realogic offers a range of consulting, from strategic planning to systems implementation, and also includes messaging and workflow applications, e-commerce, and ERP.
Executives were quick to point out the synergies offered by a consulting operation that can tap an in-house array of software products for clients.
"Direct access to CA's state of the art tools, such as Unicenter TNG and Jasmine, will clearly be of tremendous benefit to our current and future clientele," says C. David Snyder, president and CEO of Realogic, a five-year-old Cleveland-based consulting firm.
