Compiled ByTraci Purdum While the economy is slowly clawing its way up from bottom, companies need to start thinking about hiring more workers. Streamlining and fine-tuning the recruiting process will help manufacturers ramp up to full speed. Indeed, Best Practices LLC, a Chapel Hill, N.C.-based research and consulting firm, recently conducted a study of 50 world-class companies and their hiring practices. "Driving Growth through Recruiting Excellence" found that using recruitment teams that work closely with production-oriented managers is the best way to attract and hire outstanding candidates whose capabilities effectively meet job needs. The study, which contains best practices in team recruiting structure, managerial hiring needs and maintaining hiring-pool diversity, also highlights the average time it takes to fill a position, sizes of recruiting staffs, cost per hire, interviews-to-offers ratios and position acceptance rates. "By streamlining their candidate selection process, the companies studied in this report have created world-class recruiting systems that allow them to make the most of any job market," notes Keith Symmers, vice president of Best Practices.
