The Business-Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC), a Washington, D.C.-based political-research group that supports business-oriented Congressional candidates, is developing an agenda for the 2000 election. "When the political parties had clearly defined views on the definitive pro-business and antibusiness issues, the business community could afford to focus almost entirely on short-term legislative activities," says BIPAC President and CEO Gregory S. Casey. "That isn't the case for the 2000 election." Called Project 2000, the effort will begin with a "summit" of corporate and trade-association political action committees in July. Participants will review a suggested agenda developed by BIPAC, then discuss how the agenda can help them make a difference in the election. Aiding them will be a BIPAC database and analysis of business-related legislation in Congress.
