The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) has canceled its 2000 Annual Conference, scheduled for May 22, and replaced it with a day-long event that will focus on a partnership with the Dept. of Defense Depot community known as Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA). The program is still scheduled for May 22. NCMS spokesperson Dale Jones says the conference was changed to the CTMA focus at the request of clients. "The only thing that really changed is the subject matter," Jones says. The forum will be held at the Wyndham Palace Resort and spa in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Participants will be able to review current CTMA projects and also will receive the NCMS's BullsEye Web browser tool. The agenda promises a showcase of selected CTMA projects and presentations, such as automated work process planning and advanced distributed learning, and the CTMA emerging product portfolio, including kinetic spray technologies. The annual conference has been a mainstay in the manufacturing community for 13 years, and some of the traditional subject matter will be included in the NCMS's Fall Workshop Series, to be held later in the year. Registration is available online at techcon.ncms.org, or by calling 734-995-7962.
