Compiled ByDeborah Austin Intermec Technologies Corp. and Philips Semiconductors are partnering to develop and market radio frequency identification (RFID) integrated circuits for smart labels and tags -- and promote global standards in the RFID marketplace. Under the alliance, Philips will market Intermec's Intellitag, used in UHF and microwave for supply-chain management. Intermec will actively market Philips' I-CODE IC based labels and manufacture reader components compatible with I-CODE, ISO 15693, and future ISO 18000 standards. The $5 billion Philips Semiconductors -- a division of Royal Philips Electronics -- is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and makes semiconductors and silicon systems platforms. Everett, Wash.-headquartered Intermec Technologies -- a company of $2 billion industrial technologies firm UNOVA Inc. -- provides supply-chain solutions and automated data collection, RFID, and mobile computing systems.
