More than 400 manufacturing executives are converging on Capitol Hill this week to meet with members of Congress and their staffs and to display their products and technologies. The influx is part of "Manufacturers Week" in Washington, D.C., Feb. 23-25, arranged by the National Assn. of Manufacturers (NAM). Manufacturers from New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma are at the event. Other NAM members will discuss health-care issues with legislators during NAM's "Health Care Lobby Day" on Feb. 24. Also meeting during the week is the NAM President's Council, composed of presidents of leading small and midsized companies that belong to the association. On Feb. 24 NAM honored lawmakers who have earned a 70% rating on the association's "key vote" scorecard on legislative issues. On Feb. 25, Rep. J.C. Watts, chairman of the House Republican Conference, will speak at a NAM breakfast.
