ByJohn S. McClenahen On Oct. 1, former three-term Michigan governor John M. Engler, a Republican, is slated to become president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), one of the most influential business lobbying groups in Washington, D.C. Engler will succeed Jerry J. Jasinowski, who is retiring. At its September meeting, NAM's full board of directors is expected to ratify Engler's selection by the Executive Committee. "I believe America must continue to be a nation where innovative enterprises and productive workers can make products that will set the standard for the world," Engler said in a prepared statement on June 15.
