The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Assn. (VPPPA) will hold its 16th annual convention and trade show on Aug. 28-31, at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle. The event provides a forum where environmental health and safety professionals can get together to network and share best practices. More than 90 sessions will be offered. Topics covered will range from indoor air quality to ergonomics to using Six Sigma to improve safety performance. Among the speakers will be Bob Bigony, senior vice president, Motorola Inc., and Charles Jeffress, assistant secretary, U.S. Dept. of Labor, OSHA. Bigony will explain how Motorola has achieved VPP recognition in eight of its facilities, and how the program plays a major role with the company's corporate safety and health culture. Jeffress will address attendees at the opening session and also participate in a 90-minute workshop on safety, health, partnership programs, and regulations.
