Compiled ByTraci Purdum Complying with hazmat shipping regulations put forth by the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation can be a daunting task for manufacturers, especially since Sept. 11. That's where Vertica Software Inc. comes in. The Austin, Texas-based company's iComply Shipper, a recent addition to the iComply suite, provides shipping, placarding and labeling instructions and includes automated bills of lading, document tracking and exception reporting capabilities. In addition to the shipper module, the iComply suite's Communicator module manages a company's environmental reporting, emergency response and crisis communications. The Inventory module tracks and manages hazardous chemical and waste inventory. The Transporter module automates shipping, labeling and invoicing. "The expansion of our iComply suite of software products makes our solution easier to adopt by a larger pool of business customers who have not yet automated or formalized their hazmat compliance function," says William Mason, chairman and CEO of Vertica. "With regulatory agencies increasing their enforcement and proposing significant civil penalties for violations that in the past may have been overlooked, we believe businesses will be compelled to quickly update and upgrade their hazmat compliance procedures."
