ByDoug Bartholomew Every contact a manufacturer has with suppliers can be managed through a new online portal offered by PeopleSoft Inc. The portal is part of the Pleasanton, Calif.-based software firm's new PeopleSoft 8 Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) package released May 29. The SRM application combines all types of supplier relationships, including collaborative design, planning, and sourcing. The software offers technology to enable companies to deploy an online supplier portal and connect with exchanges as well as conduct traditional electronic data exchange (EDI) transactions. "We've been looking for a solution that would give us the ability to manage critical supplier relationships in real-time," says Gerry Gluscic, CIO and vice president of information technology at Borden Foods Corp., Columbus, Ohio. "PeopleSoft 8 SRM will give companies like Borden a competitive advantage by improving business processes and reducing operational costs."
