Following on the heels of competitor PeopleSoft Inc., SAP AG. last week began offering a client-server-based software package for educational institutions. Called SAP IQ, the new system builds on the popular R/3 package, yet is designed to support the educational processes and resource allocation needs of schools, universities, institutes and businesses that deal with education, training, and extended learning.

The package will include several modules, among them are:

  • IQ Campus, for the needs of higher education.
  • IQ Training, for commercial training groups.
  • IQ Congress, for conference organizations.

SAP competitor PeopleSoft has been offering its PeopleSoft Student Administration package for years. The system helps colleges manage admissions, recruitment, financial aid, and other activities.
