Compiled ByTraci Purdum Targeting small and midsized businesses, Octave Software Inc. has introduced its WebOctave M-Class solution. The Los Angeles-based company, which provides next-generation content-management solutions, says the package will be available on Linux in the first quarter 2003, and included in the IBM eServer Integrated Platform for e-business. The IBM eServer Integrated Platform includes xSeries hardware, WebSphere Application Server supporting Web services, and DB2 database software for Linux. According to the company, the solution will support a wide variety of Java-based applications including solutions for finance, retail, e-commerce, telecommunications, distribution and manufacturing. Other M-Class features include pre-built components that enable rapid deployment, such as:
- Templates and themes for Web site layout and design;
- Content Classes for a variety of information categories, such as News and Events;
- Handlers for managing the characteristics of complex content types, such as Wave, JPEG and Flash.
