Logistics and supply-chain management firm Ozburn-Hessey Logistics has acquired Lanter Logistics and Lanter Refrigerated Distributing, the Nashville-based firm announced. Ozburn-Hessey Logistics says the purchase makes it the eighth largest third-party logistics provider in the United States, with 17 million square feet of space in 20 states. Madison, Ill.-based Lanter, which operates in the temperature-controlled segment of the logistics industry, operates a fleet of more than 150 temperature-controlled trucks. The new company will make its corporate headquarters in Nashville, with Scott McWilliams, Ozburn-Hessey Logistics CEO, as chief executive officer. Lanter President and CEO Steve Lanter joins the combined organization as executive vice president. "This [acquisition] increases the geographic service area and strengthens the capabilities we can provide our current customers," McWilliams says. "As a result, we will be more competitive in sttracting new customers." Ozburn-Hessey provides a wide range of logistics services, including warehousing and distribution, real-estate development, personnel staffing and material handling.
