Manugistics Group Inc., a leading supply-chain software firm, announced earlier this month the acquisition of Tyecin Systems Inc., a developer of advanced planning and scheduling applications for the semiconductor industry. Tyecin software is used by eight of the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers.
"This merger significantly strengthens our supply-chain solution and increases the depth of functionality that we can offer to semiconductor manufacturers and other high-tech companies," says Mary Lou Fox, senior vice president for Manugistics, based in Rockville, Md.
The resulting combination of systems will allow companies to optimize global production, provide real-time available-to-promise as well as manufacturing planning and scheduling information, improve forecasting accuracy, and enable collaboration with suppliers and customers.
