Expect Same-Sex Harassment Claims To Climb

Employers can expect a slew of lawsuits in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling earlier this month that sexual harassment can apply to workers of the same sex. The first major lawsuit since the ruling two weeks ago was filed by a New Jersey man who accused his former male boss of sexually taunting him for years. Richard Brown, who quit his job as a machine tool worker in 1996, alleges that his former boss at chemical manufacturer Acrison Inc., Moonachie, N.J., taunted him between 1992 and 1996 about both his sex potency and his sex life with his wife. The suit, filed in Passaic County Superior Court, seeks $1 million in compensatory, as well as punitive damages.
