Spicer, Mogul Plants Among Shingo Winners

Six North American manufacturers -- three from the U.S. and three from Mexico -- were awarded the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing June 10th at an awards ceremony held in Columbus, Ohio. The U.S. winners include Federal Mogul Lighting Products, Hampton, Va., a manufacturer of automotive exterior lighting; O.C. Tanner Co., Salt Lake City, a provider of corporate employee service awards; and The Wiremold Co., West Hartford, Conn., which makes fully integrated wire and cable management systems. From Mexico the winners include Delphi Automotive Systems, RIMIR Operations, Matamoros, a producer of automotive airbags; Grupo Cydsa Sales del Istmo, SA de CV, Coatzacoalcos, which manufactures and distributes salt products for several applications; and Spicer Cardanes, SA de CV, Queretaro, a manufacturer of light- and heavy-duty driveshafts for the automotive market. Established in 1988, the Shingo Prize recognizes manufacturing excellence in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. It is administered by the College of Business at Utah State University in partnership with the National Assn. of Manufacturers. NAM Chairman Calvin "Tink" Campbell presented the awards.
