Auto Alliance Names Leader For Safety, 'Harmonization'

The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers has named Robert S. Strassburger vice president of safety and harmonization. Harmonization refers to efforts to unify regulatory and production standards for auto manufacturers in different countries. Strassburger formerly served as director of government and technical affairs at Nissan North America Inc. and also held several management positions with Mazda North American Operations. The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers is a coalition of 11 car and light truck manufacturers, representing BMW Group, DaimlerChrysler Corp., Fiat Auto SpA, Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., Isuzu Motors America Inc., Mazda North American Operations, Nissan North America Inc., Toyota Motor North America Inc., Volkswagen of America Inc., and Volvo Cars of North America Inc. It is an advocacy group for automakers on public-policy matters.
