Baan Co., no doubt one of the most acquisitive of all enterprise resource planning software firms, has done it again. The Putten, Netherlands-based software company has acquired Coda Group plc, of Harrowgate, UK.

The $87 million deal is expected to provide Baan, whose product line is deep in manufacturing functionality, some much-needed strength in financial management applications. Baan will integrate Codas financial package with its ERP software to provide better corporate accounting systems for its customer base. According to analysts, Baan is expected to maintain its partnership with financial systems maker Hyperion Software, whose software will continue to be used for specific tasks such as consolidation, reporting, budgeting, and planning.

Some companies Baan acquired in the past include Aurum Software, Berclain, Agility Business Software Ltd., and Probe Software Sciences Inc.
