Food manufacturer Barilla SPA has chosen BrightStor Enterprise Backup from Computer Associates International to protect data generated by an IT infrastructure that includes more than 2,000 workstations and 1,000 mobile sales force stations around the world. The volume of data generated by the Parma, Italy-based food maker exceeds one terabyte per month. "We have implemented a system of safeguards for our distributed architecture that depends on strong centralized control," says Roberto Faraguti, Barilla Group's chief technology officer. "BrightStor Enterprise Backup fits perfectly with this architecture, offering robust performance and centralized monitoring from an extremely intuitive management interface." Islandia, N.Y.-based Computer Associates' BrightStor Enterprise Backup protects a number of Barilla systems, including Nielsen marketing data, and human resources, administration, IP network and investment management applications. Faraguti says BrightStor Enterprise Backup also would allow Barilla to introduce SAN (storage area network) technology to its enterprise storage architecture without major disruptions to operational practices. "[Computer Associates] has clearly shown its commitment to keeping pace with technologies, such as Windows 2000 and SANs, as they become available," Faraguti says.
