Eight North American manufacturers -- one from Canada, two from Mexico, and five from the U.S. -- were recently named winners of the annual Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing. They are being honored this week at an awards ceremony in Milwaukee. The winners from the United States include Baxter Healthcare Corp., I.V. Systems Div., North Cove Facility, Marion, N.C.; Delphi Automotive Systems, Saginaw Steering Systems, Saginaw, Mich.; Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., Ft. Worth; Lucent Technologies, Product Realization Center, Mount Olive, N.J.; and Freudenberg-NOK, Industrial Sector, LaGrange, Ga. From Mexico the winners include Delphi Automotive Systems, Componentes Mecanicos, Matamoros, and Cydsa, Chemical Division, Policyd La Presa, S.A. de C.V., Tlanapantla, Mexico. And the Shingo winner from Canada is the Ford Motor Co. of Canada, Windsor Engine Plant, Windsor. The Shingo Prize recognizes manufacturing excellence in North America. It is administered by the College of Business at Utah State University in partnership with the National Assn. of Manufacturers.
