More than 50 companies will participate in the Boston Cares Second Annual Corporate Volunteer Day on June 6. More than 1,200 volunteers from Boston-area companies will help build playgrounds, clean parks, paint schools and homeless shelters, and plant crops to help feed Boston's hungry.

"We are very excited about this new program," says Mark Yerkes, executive director of Boston Cares. "Not only does it give companies the opportunity to show their good corporate citizenship but it also provides much needed volunteer relief to so many of our city's non-profit organizations."

Boston Cares was created by a group of working people in 1991 to build a bridge between the hundreds of nonprofit organizations in severe need of volunteer labor and the thousands of people who want to become meaningfully involved in their communities.
