ByDeborah Austin A recently announced deal between Categoric Software Corp. and LIS puts advanced interactive alerting functionality into warehouse management and supply-chain-execution solutions. Categoric's Xalerts collaboration/messaging/event detection technology platform will be integrated into all newly installed LIS products, including Dispatcher-WMS and VirtualView, which provides worldwide visibility of warehouse stock levels, orders and shipments. Traditionally, say the companies, warehouse management systems offered unidirectional alerting or traditional end-of-day reports. The newly combined solution gives realtime visibility into companies' own warehousing operations and across supply chains -- sending realtime specified-event alerts to appropriate persons via Web, mobile phone, pager or PDA. Users can manage data by exception rather than manual monitoring. LIS, High Wycombe, UK, provides supply-chain-execution solutions. Categoric Software, Leatherhead, UK, provides event management and alerting technology.
