EPA Recognizes Chemical Plant For Protection Efforts

The U.S. EPA has recognized Ciba Specialty Chemicals' Newport, Del., plant as one of the top businesses and facilities in the U.S. for environmental performance. The plant, one of 225 entities to receive the recognition, was the only one in Delaware to do so. The Ciba site was recognized for its storm-water collection program, reduction in air emissions and waste water, its solid-waste management system, and for overall environmental management and community response. The program that recognized the Ciba site, the National Environmental Achievement Track Program, rewards businesses that go beyond regulatory compliance and attain exceptional levels of environmental performance and management to benefit people, communities, and the environment. Ciba Specialty Chemicals is based in Switzerland.
