Compiled ByJill Jusko Business-to-business e-commerce network operator Global eXchange Services Inc. (GXS) has purchased Celarix Inc., a privately held firm that delivers logistics-provider integration services. The terms of the sale were not disclosed. Global eXchange says Celarix solutions are immediately available for sale. "We are dedicated to providing new e-commerce services on our transaction delivery network that address our customers' most critical business process automation needs," says Harvey F. Seegers, GXS president and CEO. The Celarix solution aids that effort with "its ability to track the multimodal movement of physical goods in real time over the Internet," he says. GXS says the purchase allows it to expand its value-added services, particularly in the retail, high-tech and automotive industries. "Each company's offering complements the other," notes AMR research analyst John Fontanella. GXS is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md.
