Manufacturers Software Choices Vary

Manufacturing software companies are having a field day, judging from just a few of the deals announced recently by leading vendors.

Lipton, a unit of Unilever, will use the entire family of RHYTHM software from i2 Technologies, Irving, Texas. Lipton plans to employ Rhythm at 14 plants, four distribution facilities, and the corporate office.

The European unit of Packard Bell NEC, a leading supplier of personal computers to businesses and consumers, has signed on to use PeopleSofts enterprise resource optimization software to support its build-to-order manufacturing strategy in Europe.
