Compiled ByJill Jusko The National Association of Manufacturers has added FedEx Corp. to its Freight Alliance Program, adding another option for its members seeking cost-effective shipping services. The Washington D.C.-based trade association says the alliance with FedEx will provide discounts for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground. The discounts average 24% off the prices many members could get on their own, particularly small and midsize firms, says NAM's David Walker, vice president for marketing and business development. Some discounts may be higher, he adds. "As with all good business agreements, this one adds considerable value for both the NAM and FedEx," notes Walker. "FedEx offers our member companies more economical access to its world-class air, ground and international shipping services. And the NAM gives FedEx access to our roughly 14,000 members." NAM members can call 202/637-3110 for additional information. Also, information about the FedEx alliance should be available on the NAM Web site beginning sometime during the week of Aug. 11.
