Complied ByDeborah Austin NEC Computers International (NEC CI), a subsidiary of NEC Corp., will deploy Xelus Inc.'s XelusPlan to manage its service parts inventory. XelusPlan will be deployed by the NEC CI Purchasing and Planning team based in Angers, France and Wijchen, Holland. At first it will be used for planning of service inventories throughout Europe, then for worldwide planning. NEC CI is increasing its focus on the professional market -- striving to be more competitive with a service-oriented approach and more efficient service-parts planning -- and needed a solution to help achieve higher parts availability in the after sales market. Privately held Xelus Inc. (formerly LPA), headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., provides service planning and optimization solutions. NEC Corp., headquartered in Tokyo, had fiscal-2000 net sales of $48 billion.
