Philip Morris Recognized For Minority Supplier Initiatives

Inc., New York, has received the Corporation of the Year Award from the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) for "exemplary achievements in the area of minority business development." Philip Morris spent $940 million with minority suppliers certified by the NMSDC, reports the New York-based membership organization. The NMSDC promotes procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses. NMSDC cited additional supplier initiatives in place at Philip Morris, including financial assistance, executive education and technical training, bid preparation training, and seminars on joint ventures and strategic alliances.
