ByDoug Bartholomew SAP AG, the leader in enterprise business applications, has chosen Abaco PR Inc.'s Varadero Wireless Framework as a development platform to create mobile computing applications for companies using its enterprise software. Based in Atlanta, Abaco provides software for handheld mobile computing devices such as the Palm Pilot and Pocket PC, enabling users to do business anytime, anywhere. The company already offered Abaco Bridge for R/3, a traditional middleware system connecting mobile devices with SAP. Abaco also served as implementation partner for SAPconsole, SAP's technology that enables the delivery of mySAP.com functionality to mobile devices used in logistic applications. The new arrangement extends the relationship between the two companies much farther. "SAP sees wireless applications as an important part of the enterprise, and plans to use Abaco Varadero Wireless Framework as a standard for writing applications for mobile computing," says Abaco spokesman Player Pate. "The SAP-Abaco Cooperative Agreement for Mobile Computing leverages our companies' respective strengths and creates unprecedented opportunities for our customers," says Peter Zencke, executive board member at SAP in Walldorf, Germany.
