Connecticut College, New London, Conn., has honored three U.S. manufacturers for their ability to combine environmental stewardship with jobs, productivity, and profits. The eighth-annual Connecticut College Inherit the Earth Awards honored these three companies: Winchester, Va.-based Trex Co. was awarded the gold medal for the manufacture of Trex Easy Care Decking -- an alternative to decking lumber; Argo Management Group, Colorado Springs, Colo., took the silver medal for production of AMG 2000 motor oil -- a completely biodegradable vegetable-based motor oil that is less toxic and produces fewer emissions than petroleum motor oils; and Redmond, Wash.-based Greendisc won the bronze medal for recycling all forms of electronic media such as obsolete products from software publishers.
