Velocity Express And Sameday Integrate Supply-Chain Management

Compiled ByDeborah Austin Velocity Express -- the delivery subsidiary of United States Shipping & Technology Inc. -- has partnered with Sameday.com Inc, developer of rapid-response product distribution software. The strategic alliance will integrate Sameday's Syntempo software suite for distributed inventory management and supply chain execution with Velocity Express' systems that run its network of 210 facilities and 10,000 delivery vehicles. Combining Syntempo's real-time views across Velocity's delivery network will allow customers efficient supply-chain management for every transaction, from inventory control to shipping status to reliable delivery. Aerospace, telecommunications, health care/pharmaceutical and automotive are among industries targeted for the joint service. The efforts will be funded in part by investment capital from TH Lee Putnam Internet Partners, a private equity firm. Sameday is headquartered in City of Industry, Calif.; Velocity Express in Houston, Texas.
