The Assn. of Women in the Metal Industries will hold its 1998 All Member Conference Nov. 8-10 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. The opening speaker on Nov. 9 will be Dr. Mae Jemison. She made world history in 1992 when she became the first woman of color to go into space when she flew as a mission specialist astronaut aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour. A few of the other guest speakers will include Ross Roberts, vice president and general manager, Ford Motor Co.; Paul Koehneke, director of corporate procurement strategies, Whirlpool Corp.; and Al Mulvey, vice president, Worldwide Procurement International Commodity Management, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft.
