Apple's Jobs Says 'We're Not Perfect'

Jobs said only .55% of the 3 million buyers of the iPhone 4 complained about reception problems.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said on July 16 that the new iPhone 4 has received the highest customer satisfaction ever but acknowledged reception complaints, saying "we're not perfect," Dow Jones Newswires reported.

Jobs, speaking at a press conference for invited journalists at Apple headquarters, said other smartphones also experienced reception problems.

Jobs also played down the seriousness of the issue saying other smartphones experienced antenna problems and the iPhone 4's problems had been blown "so out of proportion, it's incredible."

He did say that the will offer free cases to iPhone 4 buyers. Dow Jones newswire also quoted Jobs as apologizing to iPhone 4 owners who experienced antenna problems with the company's latest smartphone.

Jobs said Apple had sold more than three million iPhone 4s since the device was launched three weeks ago and that only 0.55% of buyers had called Apple support about the reception issues.

Jobs said only 1.7% of U.S. buyers had returned their iPhone 4 to AT&T, less than a third of the return rate for the previous model, the iPhone 3GS.
