Recall affects the Fit/Jazz and City models

Honda Motor said on Jan. 29 it was recalling some 646,000 units of its Fit/Jazz and City cars sold globally due to defective parts of their window switch.

The recall, which includes 140,000 compact cars in the United States, covers the models sold in Europe, Asia and other regions around the world, a spokeswoman said.

The action came after Honda received several reports of fire breaking out in power-window switches of the models.

The Fit is Honda's best-selling model in Japan, but it has no plan to take action in Japan, the spokeswoman said.
