Motorola CEO Zander Stepping Down

Nov. 30, 2007
Board chooses COO as successor.

Motorola Inc. reported on Nov. 30 that Edward J. Zander would step down from his position as CEO at the end of this year. He will be replaced, effective Jan. 1, 2008, by Greg Brown, who currently serves as president and chief operating officer. Zander will remain chairman of the board of directors until the annual stockholders meeting in May 2008.

Todays decision is the culmination of a thoughtful and disciplined process of succession planning, says Samuel C. Scott III, lead director of Motorolas board of directors.

In a Motorola press statement, Zander said the time was right to move on to the next phase of my life and spend more time with my family.

Brown, 47, has served as Motorola president and COO since March 2007. Prior to that, he headed four different businesses at Motorola, and led the acquisition of Symbol Technologies.
