Parnership extends throughout supply chain; gives best practices for saving money, energy

A voluntary partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S EPA, product manufacturers, local utilities, and retailers throughout the U.S., Energy Star is a labeling program designed to encourage large-scale buyers and individual consumers to purchase energy-efficient products.

The site, available here, is tailored to help manufacturers in using the Energy Star program to implement an energy-management strategy and includes a PowerPoint primer, "See How Energy Star Works with Manufacturers." Other resources include software and calculators for evaluating energy performance at your facility, a directory of products carrying the Energy Star label, a list of current industrial Energy Star partners and the opportunity to sign up for the program online. The site also includes testimonials, such as this from Toyota Motor of North America:
