Strategic study on the U.S. ethanol industry sees ethanol to be most significant impact "since mechanization"

The Hale Group recently announced a multi-client study designed to define the key forces that will impact the U.S. ethanol industry during the next five years, and to help the worlds of agriculture and business develop appropriate competitive strategies.

The report, entitled Ethanol 2012, is to be a collaboration of the leading experts from the agricultural, petroleum, public policy and technology sectors with a tight focus on the U.S. ethanol market. The Hale Group will work closely with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), which is led by Dr. Daniel Yergin; Clayton Yeutter, the former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture; and Dr. Bruce Dale of Michigan State University.

"Over the next five years, the U.S. corn-based ethanol industry is going to face major strategic challenges as it becomes a more mature industry given that the commodity markets remain volatile and the government is developing policies for renewable energy and climate change," said Clayton Yeutter.

"The rapid growth of ethanol production is likely to be one of the most significant events to impact the overall U.S. agricultural economy since mechanization" said Robert Ludwig, Principal for The Hale Group, Ltd.
