Ultra Clean Asia Pacific (UTC) opened Southeast Asia’s largest commercial 3D printing in Singapore on Sept. 28.
The UCT Additive Manufacturing Center, which cost more than S$5 million, has 15 sets of 3D printers, as reported by Tan Weizhan in Today.
The center will target sectors such as the aerospace, dental and medical. It will also offer consumer services.
“The establishment of UCT’s additive manufacturing facility reflects Singapore’s progression towards advanced manufacturing and engineering,” Lim Kok Kiang, assistant managing director of the Singapore Economic Development Board, told Today.
In 2013 the Singapore government announced plans to set aside S$500 million over five years to support a “future of manufacturing” program, which includes 3D printing.
“3D printing allows large corporations to increase their R&D pace through rapid prototyping,"Lavi Lev, senior vice-president of the Asia Division UCT told Today. "In particular, the medical and aerospace sectors are using 3D printing extensively.”
