GKN Driveline Expands in Central China to Capture Growing Market

China's vehicle market will hit 30 million by 2020

As China is expected to sell 22 million vehicles by 2014 and 30 million by 2020, GKN Driveline is making sure it will be able to serve that market.

The company announced on Thursday that it will build a 11,000-square-meter precision forge facility in Wuhan to produce components for driveline systems. The capacity of the plant, owned by Shanghai GKN Driveshaft Co., Ltd., will be 11 million precision parts.

"Vehicle manufacturers are continuing to expand across China, the world's largest vehicle market and the Wuhan plant is located close to customers in the center of China," said Andy Reynolds Smith, CEO GKN Automotive.

GKN Driveline is a l global producer of CVJ Systems, AWD Systems, Trans Axle Solutions and eDrive Systems and operates in 22 countries at 56 locations employing 22,000 people.
