Swiss food giant Nestle said on Sept. 12 that it began construction of a $200 million factory in Indonesia which will produce infant cereals, chocolate malt drinks and milk powder.

"Our decision to invest in Karawang is consistent with the growth in demand and our confidence in the rapidly developing economy of Indonesia," said Arshad Chaudhry, president director of Nestle Indonesia.

The factory in the town of Karawang, West Java, will create over 600 jobs and is expected to open in early 2013, the company added.
