Dow Chemical Profits Up 73.4%

Sales rose 18% to $16.04 billion, the second-highest figure in the company's history.

Dow Chemical reported on July 27 net profit of $982 million in the second quarter. This is a 73.4% increase. The record sales were driven by emerging markets, the company said.

The group made a net profit of 84 cents per share, higher than the figure of 81 cents expected on average by analysts.

Sales rose by about 18% to $16.04 billion, the second-highest figure in the company's history.

The company also said it was optimistic for the rest of the year.
